

CARMELETE ROBERTSON MOORE entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the age of 87 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born Carliss Carmelete Dickerson to John Joseph “Jack” and Effie Dickerson in Bancroft, Louisiana on March 31, 1923. She graduated from Merryville High School in Louisiana and worked at Fort Polk, Louisiana where she met her first husband, Lt. Col. George H. Robertson, Sr. She was a first class Army wife living in Baltimore, Atlanta, El Paso and Austin. She worked as a secretary for the IRS and State of Texas in Austin, Texas. Carmelete was a member of Cathedral of Praise in Cordova, TN for the past 12 years where she enjoyed women’s ministry, Sunday school and senior adult activities. Her interests were gardening, cooking, painting, entertaining, travel and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her late husband, Colonel George Hobson Robertson, Sr., 2 sisters, Penny Lee and Delores Mouton and 1 brother, Olen Dickerson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Walton R. Moore, one brother, Daniel, Dickerson, her son/daughter-in-law, George Hobson and Deborah Robertson, Jr. her daughter/son-in-law, Suzanne and Daryl Vrbas, her stepchildren, Wayne and Anita Cashion, Richard and Sherry Stenger, Randy and Sheri Moore, 5 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends. “GRAN,” as she was called by her grandchildren was an amazing, Southern lady who lived to love and serve her Lord Jesus and her family and friends. She dedicated her life to her Savior at an early age and lived that life devoted to prayer and sharing the Good News with all those around her. Her desire was that all come to know Christ as Redeemer and share in the eternal life she so richly enjoys today. Her life was a Godly example of her faith. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 22 at Cathedral of Praise in Cordova. A graveside service will be Friday in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Apple Grove Assisted Living/Memphis, TN and the Alzheimer’s Association for Research.
