Carolyn Hodo Cope

Carolyn Hodo Cope, 92, went home to be with her Lord on September 9th, 2016. Memorial services will be held at Ridgeway Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, September 11th, 2016, at 3 pm. Visitation will be from 2-3 pm prior to the service.

Carolyn grew up in Amory, Mississippi, the daughter of P.T. and Nona Hodo. Attending Bob Jones University, she met and married the aspiring preacher from Phoenix, AZ, Livy L. Cope. A speech major in college, Carolyn was a gifted speaker and Bible study teacher, encouraging others in their faith walk with Christ. Always the epitome of Southern hospitality and homemaking, Carolyn embraced gracefully her role as the pastor’s wife and mother of three. Throughout her life, she faithfully served her family at home, as well as her church family at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis for over 26 years.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Livy Lee Cope, and siblings Frances Hodo Pierce and Peter T. Hodo, Jr. Carolyn is survived by son, L. Lee Cope of Clinton, MS; daughters, Mary Lynn Kirby of Fayetteville, GA and Sharon Cope Lucas of Memphis; sisters, Winnie Hodo Frey of Arizona and Gaila Hodo Williams of Florida; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
