She was born October 2, 1932, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence David Black and Golden Virginia Hood Fry.
She was a Southern Baptist and a member of Balmoral Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed working every summer in Vacation Bible School. She loved traveling with her husband, Elmer Lee Williams, Jr. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid University of Memphis fan. She loved her Tigers!
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Elmer Lee Williams, Jr.; son, Ron Asplund (Melody); daughter, Deborah Asplund; grandchildren, Jacob Asplund, Joshua Asplund (Jordan), Jeremy Asplund, Jordan Thompson (Cody); and great-grandchildren, Michael Asplund and Matthew Asplund.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, George Fry; sisters, Kathleen Dion and Barbara Jean Siler; and her first husband of 45 years, Donald Edward Asplund.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 6 at 3:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Visitation will also be Sunday, June 6 with the family receiving friends from 2:00 PM until the service time, at the funeral home. The family requests all attending to, please, wear a mask.
A private burial will later take place at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, Tennessee.
