A lifelong pianist and piano teacher, Catherine devoted herself to music with steady discipline and quiet grace, sharing her gifts in ways that enriched the lives of those she taught and those who had the privilege of hearing her play. During her retirement, she gave generously of her time to others, volunteering for several years as a Pink Lady at Methodist North Hospital.
She thoroughly enjoyed fishing, and she loved going out to eat fish, too. Catherine especially treasured time spent with her family. Later in life, she relocated to Holladay, Tennessee, to be closer to family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her father, J. K. Henderson; mother, Louise Craig Henderson; sister, Doris Spinks; twin daughters, Mary Catherine and Roberta Louise; first husband, Robert Barnett; second husband, Jerry Bullock; and her son, Robert Barnett, Jr.
She is survived by 2 sons, Joe Barnett (Cindy) and Tim Barnett (Rae Marie); grandchildren, Chris Barnette (Carrie), B. J. Wooden (Johnny), Amy Haycraft (Shawn), Elaine Fullerton (Jason), Sarah Barnett, Houston Barnett, Craig Barnett (Michelle), John Barnett (Beth), and Rhonda Greever (Brian); 19 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren plus one on the way.
The family will receive friends at visitation on Monday, September 14 from 1:00 PM until her funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
