

Charles E. “Chuck” Fitzgerald, 83, died May 7, 2013. Chuck was a native Memphian and attended Tech High School. Most of his working years were spent in auto body shops, but his main love was always music. His beautiful voice enriched the church choir for over 50 years. In the early 1950’s he was a soloist on the television show Good Morning Memphis. Chuck loved singing with “The Carpenter’s Crew”, a group from Decatur Trinity Christian Church in Bartlett. He appeared in productions at Theater Memphis and the Bartlett Community Theater. Chuck was wounded in the Army Infantry in the Korean War. He leaves his wife Mary of 33 years; two daughters, Shawn Fitzgerald of Decatur, GA, Tay Fitzgerald of Tucson, AZ; step-daughters, Kathleen Helton, MD (Stephen) of Collierville, TN, Mary Jacqueline Wilkins (Kurt) of Lima, OH, Karen Sampson (Russell) of Memphis, TN; step-son, Jerry Jacobson of New Bern, NC; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10 from 11 am until service time of 1 pm at Decatur Trinity Christian Church. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
