

Charles “Chuck” Leroy Oldenburg, 83, of Memphis, TN passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Chuck was born on August 29, 1942 in Jackson, MI to the late Marguerite Weese Lawrence and Donald Oldenburg. Chuck was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served as a flight navigator during the Vietnam War. He began his career in flight navigation and then Director of Flight Operations with Capitol International Airways. He retired from FedEx after 29 years in Flight Operations. Chuck was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan; he loved all sports and watching games with his family.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon VanAlstyne Oldenburg; four children, Jeffrey Oldenburg (Rebecca), Jennifer Oldenburg Sneed (Stacy), Jeremy Oldenburg, and Jason Oldenburg (Jenny); five grandchildren, Matthew (Chloe), Garrett, Quinton, Evelynn, and Calliope; three great-grandchildren, Cannon, Lincoln, and Christian; three sisters, Sharon Oldenburg Morris (Bill), Denise Lawrence, and Dorene Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy at parentprojectmd.org or Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org.
