

Age 89, of Southaven, MS, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2016 surrounded by his family at DeSoto Baptist Hospital. He was born August 28, 1927 in Hickory Flat, MS, to James Pettis Robbins and Flossie Rhoades Robbins. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Googe Robbins and his two daughters, Deborah Robbins and Donna (David) Bohannon. He also was survived by two grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Carter of Keller, TX and Wesley (Leslie) Bohannon of Southaven, Mississippi. He also leaves behind five beautiful great-grandchildren, Alexis Nicole Bohannon, Bailey Kate Bohannon, Caleb Reid Carter, Kaspar William Carter, and Keagan Helen Carter. He also survived one of his sisters, Mrs. Ada Irby of Little Rock, AR. Charles Robbins and his wife were members of Boulevard Baptist Church located in Southaven, MS. He graduated from Humes High School in Memphis, TN and attended college at Memphis State University. He served his country in the military as an Army Sergeant for six years; two of those years were served in Germany. Charles was a proud member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee, Berclair Lodge #771. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad several years ago where he was Office Manager for approximately 36 years. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved playing with and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His smile, loving spirit, and companionship will be missed by all those that knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 38119, 901-725-0100, on Thursday, September 22. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. with funeral service immediately following. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 in Booneville, MS in the Booneville Cemetery 10 a.m.
