Christine Price

Christine Rutland Price of Memphis, age 91, died April 19, 2012. She was born in Charleston, Mississippi, on February 10, 1921, to the late Stephen and Bessie Rutland. She was a graduate of Humes High School, class of 1939, and was a loyal participant in their frequent reunions throughout the years. For over 50 years she was an active member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church where she was an officer in the Madonna Sunday School class, the Women's Society of Christian Service and the United Methodist Women and gave tirelessly in various areas of the church and parsonage with her wonderful decorating and sewing abilities. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill S. Price, daughter Sherry K. Meeks and son-in-law Bobby Meeks of Dallas, TX, son Christopher M. Price and daughter-in-law Anita M. Price, granddaughter, Lauren P. Schorr and her husband Mike, granddaughter Claire A. Price all of Memphis, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Juanita R. Elliston and son-in-law Alan S. Kornblueh. The family extends their thanks to Belmont Village and Quince Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of her. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home 5599 Poplar Ave with services Monday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church. A private burial will follow. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 3981 Macon Rd, Memphis, TN 38122, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
