Christopher Scott “Chris” Neeley, 63, died peacefully on June 27, 2025. He was born in Memphis, TN and lived his entire life in the Memphis area, graduating from Southern Baptist Educational Center in 1980. His work career was spent in the electrical supply field in both sales and operations. He retired as Operations Manager of Consolidated Electrical Distributors in 2023.
Chris never met a stranger and could always be counted on for a colorful story or quick-witted humor. He was an award-winning cook and a beloved member of the Memphis competition barbecue community. He had a generous heart and loved to use his culinary skills to bless his family and friends with delicious meals.
He is survived by his mother Sue Neeley of Germantown, TN, brother Ed Neeley (Becky) of Memphis, sister Pam Coley (Larry) of Germantown, sister-in-law Terri Neeley of Starkville, MS, four nephews, three nieces, and many loving cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his father James “Jim” Neeley, brother Marty Neeley, and soulmate Donna Meador.
A memorial service will be conducted at Noon on Thursday, July 3rd at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue. The family will receive friends from 11am until the service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris’ memory to Operation BBQ Relief with whom Chris assisted with disaster relief, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
