

CLARENCE ROLAN GOINS, 87, passed away at his residence on July 25, 2013, with family at his bedside. Mr Goins had been under home hospice care for heart failure for a week. He was loved deeply and will be missed greatly. Mr. Goins born near Covington, TN, and grew up in Memphis. He attended Humes High School, where he met his sweetheart of 67 years, Charline Miller Goins. They had a long and loving marriage. They had two children who preceded Mr. Goins in death. Mr. Goins had a number of interesting jobs during his years of employment. He was a pony keeper at the Memphis Zoo, Gunner for the United States Navy in World War II, worked the I.C. Railroad/Piggy Back Motor Express Rentals Division, RCA and worked in management at McLean Trucklines. Mr. Goins was also a successful cattleman for 25 years in Fayette County and retired as Terminal Manager for Great Track Trucklines. Following retirement, Mr. Goins worked part time for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where he delivered cars to customers and was affectionately known as “Mr. G.”. Mr. Goins was a born-again Christian, having attended the Methodist Church for most of his life. He was saved as a child and lived the life of a Christian until his last breath. He prayed with his family everyday. His life, as a whole, can be held up as a model of how to live. Rising from the poverty of his youth, through hard work and determination, he happily shared his wealth and resources with others. His family is comforted by the fact that they will all be together again in Glory one sweet day and encourage you at this time, if you have not already, come to know Jesus. Mr. Goins would love to see you in Heaven. The family encourages you to follow your heart and either send flowers or make a donation to your favorite charity . It would be of special significance to the family if you donate to the Kidney Foundation or Heiffer Project. The first for the memory of the struggle of Mr. Goins small family to help his son-in-law through the ordeal of kidney failure and transplant. The second, because every good farmer delights when another farmer is born. Mr. Goins will be laid to rest on Monday, July 29. The family will receive guests from Noon until funeral services begin at 2 p.m.. He leaves behind his wife, Charline Miller Goins and two grandchildren, Leisa and Walter.
