

Claude Lee Pearson was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 28, 2013, at the age of 73. Born on May 12, 1940, he was re-united with his Mother, Father and Sister, Walter and Gertrude Pearson and Sandra Pyron. He graduated from Treadwell High School where he lettered in four sports and went on a football scholarship to Baylor University. The impact and lives he touched are too numerous to mention. He was the youngest to serve as Chief Probation Officer at Juvenile Court. He served the city under three mayors: Loeb, Chandler and Hackett. He instrumented the curbside garbage collection as Director of Sanitation, was Chief Negotiator to bring about resolution of the 1978 fire and police strike. He served as an Alderman in Bartlett. His greatest and most rewarding service was at Briarcrest Christian School, where he taught and coached. He loved serving the Lord and spending much time in prayer and the study of God’s word. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Crawford Pearson; and two daughters, Sheryl Wagner (Norm) of Wasilla, AK and Melissa Ungberg (Jon) of Memphis; his son, Timothy Pearson (Jennifer) of Arlington, TN. He leaves to carry on his legacy 5 grandsons, Garrett and Cory Wagner, Malachi Pearson, Aaron and Seth Ungberg and 2 granddaughters, Eliza Pearson and Leah Ungberg; a sister, Carolyn Daugherty (Harold) of Shawnee, OK; his aunts, Dorothy Thompson and Pauline Pearson of Memphis. He also leaves all of his Crawford in-laws that he dearly loved as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a longtime member of Highland Heights Baptist Church and his current church was Leawood East Baptist where he taught Sunday School and held leadership responsibilities. The family requests any donations to be sent to Leawood East Baptist Church, Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, Memphis Union Mission or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue, and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Leawood East Baptist Church, 1620 Houston Levee Road in Cordova.
