Clementine Birdsong-Hill, age 77 of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. Born on November 16, 1943, she was one of 7 children to the late Richard Birdsong and the late Mattie Macklin-Birdsong.
Clementine graduated from Barret’s Chapel High School in Arlington, Tennessee in 1962 and later met and married the love of her life, Postell Hill, Jr. They raised three children, Vicki, Veronica and Timothy. She fiercely loved her family and did all she could to make sure they were loved, supported and successful. Clementine was a devoted wife, mother, sister, auntie, and friend. A powerful prayer warrior and preacher of God’s Word, Clementine had a deep love for God and His people.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert L. Birdsong, Richard Birdsong III, Alfred Birdsong, James A. Birdsong, one sister Mary A. Birdsong, one sister-in-law, Jean E Webber and one brother-in-law Willie Webber. Left to continue to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Postell Hill Jr. of Memphis, TN., two daughters, Vicki M. Collins of Bremerton, WA. (Sammie), Veronica K. Gray of Memphis, TN.(Robert), one son, Timothy Hill of Oakland, TN. (Shavone), one stepdaughter Betty J. Scott of Memphis, TN. (Eddie), two stepsons, Roy L. Shelton Sr. of Memphis, TN. (Hattie), James Hill Jr. of Oakland, TN, one brother George W. Birdsong Sr. of Oakland, CA; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will fondly cherish her memory.
Visitation for Mrs. Clementine will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee. Graveside Service will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 10:00AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Due to the COVID protocols, guests are required to wear masks and observe social distancing during both services.
