

Cornelius T. “Odie” O’Donnell, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee, died August 27, 2016 at the Millington Healthcare Center. Born January 30, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Cornelius Sr. & Mary Margaret Murphy O’Donnell. Mr. O’Donnell served his country all of his life retiring from the United States Army as Sergeant 1st Class. As a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows, he was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. The family cordially invites anyone who can to a gathering on Tuesday, August 30 from five o’clock until Rosary service begins at seven o’clock all at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3700 Highway 51 N., Memphis, TN 38127. Funeral mass will be the next morning beginning at ten o’clock at the church officiated by Fr. Bryan Timby. Mr. O’Donnell will be buried at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. Along with his parents and several siblings, Odie was preceded in death by a son, Patrick O’Donnell. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Martha J. Duncan O’Donnell; Cornelius “Neil” (Edie) O’Donnell and Michael (Linda) O’Donnell; two brothers Philip (Harriet) O’Donnell and Michael (Margie) O’Donnell; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
