

Our Lord and Savior called his angel home, Cozetta Sanders McCray, the oldest child of the late Thomas James Sanders and Avie Flowers Sanders, was born on July 10, 1924. We thank you Lord for our mother, for her warm and loving ways, for every smile and tear we’ve shared. We often whisper Thank you Lord, to heaven up above for the blessing of a mother who’s as sweet as you to love.
“Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)
Cozetta accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Liberty Baptist Church, Lyon, Mississippi; where she served for over seventy-five years. She was a pillar of strength in the church, always exemplifying the highest of morals and strong Christian beliefs. She attend Sunday School regularly, shared her faith by singing in the choir which she had been a member, working diligently with the Missionary Ministry and served as president of the Mother’s Board faithfully until her health failed.
“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13)
She was educated in the public schools of Coahoma County. She was a Domestic worker until she retired. Cozetta was a caring and giving person. Many friends and family members experienced her delicious cooking.
“Therefore, shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Matthew 19:5)
She was married to the late Hosea McCray, Sr., for over fifty years and to this union fourteen children were born. Three daughters, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteous, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me on that day: and not to me only, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (II Timothy 4:7-8)
On Saturday morning, December 26, 2015, she departed this life laying aside her robe of mortality putting on her garment of immortality.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalms 116:15)
She leaves a void in the lives of her children: Hosea, Jr. (Eddye) McCray, Olive Branch, MS; Earlean Snow, Memphis, TN; Jerry Lewis McCray Sr., Delores (Willie) Robinson, Shirley (Ervin) Allen, Richard (Eliza) McCray Sr., Eva (T.C.) Jones, all of Clarksdale, MS; Gwendolyn McCray and Elma McCray both of San Antonio, TX; Alfredia Sims, Douglasville, GA; John McCray, Jackson, MS; Barry McCray Sr., Memphis, TN; Sixteen granddaughters, sixteen grandsons, seventy-one great grandchildren, sixteen great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
