Daddy,….

My father was a provider, a rider a man that wore all the hats.
A protector never and I mean never a neglector.
He loved his family dearly.  My father was a fighter, a crier,  never afraid to show his emotions, that's what made  him tough, even when times got rough! 
A disciplined man, a strong man.
Even though  he didn't have any boys, he raised four beautiful and I mean BEAUTIFUL Women!
 He was a lover,  don't believe me just ask my mother! 
My daddy was a Godly man. 
I be doggone if I can't man!! 
 I never thought in a million years I would be shedding these tears.
I loved my daddy,even when he was mad at me. 
He always told me if you talk the talk you better walk the walk!! 
And I promise you I walk with grace, at a pace, and I never, no never,  hide my face!!
My daddy raised me to be the same as he was, strong, stable, able to do what needed to be done..
I love you daddy for the qualities you and my mother gave me!
 And I stand here today with my family, as we continue this journey, that only you hold the key to!

You’ve instilled some gems in all of us which is a blessing. I’ll miss our phone calls and your voice messages. “Hey Tarina, this Unc Butch down here in the ATL. Give me a call I need to holla at you. I love you girl.”  I’m forever grateful for you. I will continue to make you proud. Thank you for demonstrating what a loving, strong, providing family man looks like.

Although it hurts so much that you’re not here with us physically. We know you’re with us in spirit.

I never imagined the day I would have to do this Unc. I’ll be strong because I know you would not have it any other way.
You were one of the strongest people I knew. I’ve seen you encounter so many challenges in my life and you’d bounce right back in sergeant beast mode like nothing ever happened. You have given me so many memories that I will forever cherish since I was a little girl. Fishing, basketball, baseball, entertaining, hosting our family gatherings & more. There was always space for me. Your heart was huge. Both you and Auntie Mary always gave me words of wisdom, encouragement, a voice of reason and always shared in my joy and accomplishments. In fact our last visit unc was for a special time in my life and that was for T’Zaria’s graduation. I’m so glad you were able to share in that moment. It will never be forgotten. Whenever I would come in town you’d make my favorite foods and say I know what you like. I already know and you’d make me smothered potatoes or bake pork chops with gravy, make potatoes and throw some parsley on it. Growing up you would make us peel potatoes everyday for french fries so it’s no surprise that I like potatoes. 
Unc, You’re the one man who has been consistent in my life. You were the example I saw as a father figure. I watched you provide for your family by any means necessary. No excuses. I remember a time the car was down but you had things to do; from going to the store or an interview; that car being down would not stop you from making a move Unc. You would grab a bike if you had to. You didn’t let things stop you. You’re where I get my “go” mode from and not letting certain things get in the way of providing for my family. 

Since I was born you loved me unconditionally as if I was your daughter even though I was your niece. I feel blessed that you were able to be apart of my kids lives. I have so many memories that I can keep close to my heart that I can reflect on and smile. 

I'm going to miss my Uncle Butch, I'm so thankful that I was able to hangout with him in Sacramento when he took a ride in my Cadillac to my TaZaria's graduation! He couldn't stop telling me about his Caddy from back in the day🤣 I'm going to miss him.

From my early years to when I lived in Memphis, to my adult years to when I moved to California, no matter what we always had some of the realist conversations. I’m gonna miss those convos we use to have Unc. Miss & love you! 

I personally have so many fond memories of my brother in-law that i would always cherish ... In the words of the Bloodstones "We go along way back" 
He was always there in time of need regardless what the task was. He had always cooked his food with love and was so delighted to see us eat every bit of it.  He knew everyone's favorite and when we would come in town you was guaranteed to have it  no questions asked. Those smothered pork chops of his were the best.  He had so many beautiful qualities that I appreciated. In the words of my  brother in-law Curtis. " Sheila this is your brother in-law Butch from.......... Wherever city or state He lived at that time. Give me a call. Love you sis❤

I did not expect this to be so difficult for me. I have so many memories of my Uncle Butch and I’ve been having such a hard time figuring out what to say. I would start a sentence then erase it..I must have done this a few times now. I would always look forward to seeing my uncle Butch whenever I would visit cause I knew I was in for a great meal made with love. I loved his cooking boy. My favorite was his famous potatoes..I think me and my sister had a debate about who got potatoes first last time he visited California lol. I even think the whole house heard because our voices were raised talking about “I ASKED HIM FIRST….NO I ASKED HIM FIRST…NO YOU DIDN’T…YES I DID!!”  type of debate lol. Needless to say he got a kick out of it. And yes we both got our potatoes lol. He was the only person who called me nee nee. I remember when I was little and was visiting..it was bedtime and needless to say I was talking instead of sleeping and he came in the room and looked at me and man I knew I was about to get a whoopin lol but instead he was just like you better take yo butt to sleep..next thing I know it’s morning time..I really went to sleep lol I wasn’t about to get no whoopin..you know I didn’t get those but I knew he didn’t play. I loved my Uncle Butch. Im really going to miss him..-Neenee

I will NEVER forget our trip back to Memphis. I love you Grandaddy
