I still miss Dan and hold dear my wonderful memories of our friendship and all the ways he inspired me as he faced his final health adversity with courage, grace, and faith. Today I battle cancer and draw strength from Dan’s example.  His greatest source of pride and priority was his family.  He loved so well and was loved well in return.

Beth, Hannah, Mary & Ruth- Karen and I are so saddened to hear of your loss. We all know Dan is now in a better place but the pain of your loss is real.

I, like many in the real estate industry, met Dan through BOMA. A few years ago, I got the honor to be Chair for BOMA International. My very first speech was in Memphis and Dan joined me on the podium. I was nervous but Dan said: “John, I got your back” and then he smiled...that warm, friendly smile that was just Dan. It sort of became our joke going forward and we would repeat it to each other every time we met.

Dan was just that kind of man, friend, husband and father! He always had our backs!

Its truly my turn to say this: “Dan, I have your back!  Your family will be in our prayers and you will be missed, my good friend!”

Dear Beth and Family.  We all experienced a Loss in the passing of Dan from this life to the next eternal life.  Jeaneth and I appreciate having the opportunity of seeing both of you in SLC at the BOMA TOBY Banquet.  

A fine gentle gentleman who did so much for our BOMA Family and was always a pleasure to see and talk with.  When I think of Dan, I think of Memphis and when I think of Memphis, I think of Dan and the great BOMA Southern Conference he hosted for us there some years ago.  

God Bless you all and please find some comfort in know you all are in our thoughts and prayers; and, be assured he is resting in peace with Our Lord, in Eternity, for Eternity.

Beth, Hannah, Ruth and Mary - I am another of those countless people that your husband and father influenced so positively through BOMA, both at the regional and international level.  Dan's warmth, smile, voice and leadership were always a boost to anything that was going on.  As well, as others have said, his faith was always wonderfully present.  Thank you for sharing him with us!

With an assured hope of the resurrection that Dan is already experiencing, much love to you and prayers for you!

As a new member of BOMA, I did not know Dan and he did not know me.  However, I did have the privilege of hearing him speak once.   While the content of the presentation was adequate, what impressed me more was his overwhelming influence among the group.  I think John Maxwell said it best when he said "Leadership is Influence.  Nothing more, nothing less."  Dan was obviously a great leader.   Even in his passing, he continues to influence others, including me.  May God comfort you in your loss.  

So very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. He leaves a tremendous legacy in the Memphis Commercial Real Estate World even as his loss leaves a hole in the hearts of those who love him. In the years I worked with Dan, not only did he help me grow professionally, but also personally. He was a great example to follow-one of love and dedication to family, passion for the BOMA world, and a true light  for other believers. 

I want to share something from The Andy Griffin Show that was recalled at my mother's funeral. After Opie accidentally kills a mother bird with his new slingshot, he takes on the job of raising her babies himself. He grows very attached to them, but then has to set them free when they get big. At the end, he looks at his cage and comments on how empty it seems with all the birds gone. His very wise father remarked, "Yes, but look how full the trees are".

Beth, I know you and the girls are surrounded by so much love right now, yet how much you will miss Dan.  Every time you hear birds singing though, think how FULL heaven must be with Dan there.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dan's family.  I am one of many commercial real estate professionals whose life Dan touched in his leadership service with BOMA International.   He set a high bar for excellence and will be greatly missed.  

Remembering you now in our hearts and prayers and believing in God's everlasting care.

Dan was such a wonderful friend and mentor. We both shared a love for BOMA, and for car racing. He would light up when I talked to him about my race car and his past drag racing fun that he had. He and my wife had a wonderful rivalry between Memphis and Gonzaga for college basketball, and they would playfully give each other a hard time every time they saw each other. He was truly one of the most generous and kind people I know, and I will miss him greatly. God speed my friend, and God bless your family in this time of mourning. I will remember you always with a smile and a laugh. 

From my earliest days with BOMA International, Dan was always there to lean on as a friend and mentor. His balance of grit and kindness made him a beloved leader in every realm of life. You could always count on Dan to shoot you straight and give you a hard time, but in the same breath, be able to take what he dished out and share a laugh. Dan’s presence continues to shine on through the countless lives he touched and he will forever be remembered for the lion is was.

Dan was and always will be a shining light for all that knew him.  He was kind, hard-working, a gentleman, and a tremendous leader within the real estate industry and for BOMA International.  The loss for his family and his many, many friends is incalculable.  His courage in the face of a terrible cancer fight was inspiring and is a testament to who Dan was.  I'm grateful to have known Dan and worked with him for years within the BOMA family.

Sending love and light to his family during this overwhelmingly difficult time.

I had the privilege of working with Dan, and the honor of being his friend.  Dan was a true warrior in his cancer battle and an amazing inspiration through his positive attitude and unrelenting faith.  Though Dan worked hard and climbed the ladder in his field, he will be remembered less for how high he climbed and more for how many he lifted up along the way.  God bless Beth and their children, whom Dan so loved.
