Danielle Marie Larose Stutts

Danielle Marie Larose Stutts passed away peacefully at home July 23, 2026, at age 68. She was born April 1, 1958, the second of seven children to G. Deynoodt “Doodie” and Lorraine Foret Larose. The family lived in New Orleans prior to moving to Memphis in 1966. Danielle graduated Immaculate Conception High School in 1976 and attended college at University of Southwestern Louisiana and University of Tennessee, Martin.

In 1984, Danielle married Charles “Mike” Duncan. Out of that union were born three beautiful daughters.

In 2006, Danielle married the love of her life, Donald Stutts. At the time of her passing, they had been married 20 years. They treasured each other immensely. Their marriage grew stronger and more loving with each passing year.

Danielle worked almost 25 years at Larose School Uniforms, a family-owned business. She performed a variety of roles, including branch manager. After the business was sold, Danielle worked at Summitt Title & Escrow. In 2023, she became an optometric assistant for Dr. Rick Alsobrook, a family friend, where she worked until she was diagnosed with glioblastoma in September 2025. She loved her coworkers, and they loved her.

Danielle was a caring, generous mother, wife, sister, and daughter. She had a kind and sensitive heart and was devoted to her daughters. She was heartbroken to lose her precious Rebecca, 7 months old, in 1992. Danielle had a beautiful smile with eyes that twinkled (sometimes described as “smirky”). She also could be quite sassy! Her family loves her for all these traits. And Danielle loved being part of the large Larose clan.

For seven years, Danielle and Don gave loving care to the Larose family matriarch, Lorraine. They provided Lorraine a good quality of life, filled with love and dignity. Their care enabled her to remain in her own home until her death in 2020. For this, Danielle’s six siblings are eternally grateful.

Over the past 10 months, Danielle’s siblings and daughters helped Don, who still worked fulltime, with her care. As she needed more physical assistance, brother George stepped in as a full-time caregiver alongside Don. George treated Danielle with the utmost gentleness, patience, and dignity. She loved her brother, maybe even more so because they were partners in crime as teenagers!

Danielle was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca Duncan; brother-in-law, Robert Taylor; sister-in-law, Kendra Boland.

Danielle is survived by her husband, Don Stutts; daughters, Michelle Duncan, Jacksonville, FL, and Angela Duncan, Memphis, TN; stepchildren April (Baylor) Singleton, Jamie Waits, Brandon Duncan; grandchildren, Layla, Luke, Lennox, Marley; siblings & their spouses, Andrée Larose & Henry Elsen, Whitefish, MT, George Larose, Memphis, TN, Ivonne Larose, Nashville, TN, Martine & Randy Wilson, Florence, AL, Simone Taylor, Spring City, TN, Jacques & Karri Larose, Baton Rouge, LA; brother-in-law, Tim Williams; an extended family of at least 13 nieces & nephews & 50 cousins and their families.

Memorial service: Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. Visitation 1:00 pm, Service 2:00 pm, Reception following.
