I have just read about Darrell’s death in the ACLAM news. I was thinking of him just the other day. I met Darrell when we worked together on the exam committee and over the years we became good friends. He was always upbeat, always happy to discuss some great new idea, and he was a solid and dependable colleague. Darrell was always busy, but he managed everything with good cheer and never a complaint. He made getting things done seem like it was easy. I will miss our conversations, and I will miss hearing his stories of his family. God bless you all. It’s a horrible time for you, but keep the faith, things do get better with time.

Darrell was one of my best friends for the past 22 years. We spoke nearly every week - sometimes if for no other reason than to catch up on current events ….be it professional or family. Darrell absolutely adored and cherished his sweet family and would keep me caught up on what everyone was doing. We worked together at SRI and again at St. Jude. Outside of work, Darrell enjoyed fishing and hunting……the stories I could tell of our times outdoors would bring smiles to everyone. He never said no to any favor I asked ….. There was no better friend.

I am eternally grateful for having known such a wonderful and truly kind soul that enriched my life and that of everyone around him in so many ways. I just can’t believe I’ll never hear his voice again.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all that knew him.

Sending strength, understanding, and warmest thoughts in memory of Darrell Hoskins.
