David Michael Wallace, 58, of Gilmer, TX and formerly of Memphis, TN was born August 18,1962 in Memphis TN, and passed away on February 24,2021, in Tyler, Texas. David was a member of Union Avenue Church of Christ till he moved to Texas. He graduated from Elliston Baptist Academy.
David leaves behind his father, Harold Wallace, mother, Beverly Wallace Hutcheson, stepfather, Don Hutcheson and sister Cathy Wallace all from Memphis TN. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles and cousins all over the country that he loved, and they loved him back. In Texas where he’s lived for many years he leaves behind Donna Hood who loved and cared for him during this difficult time. He also leaves his dog Rusty and cat Sam who will also miss him terribly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Madie and Broadie Hunsucker, and Onie and Parshall Wallace. Also preceding him in death were his stepsister, LeAnne Hutcheson, and stepbrother, Martin Hutcheson.
David never met a stranger, a trait he no doubt inherited from his grandfather he graduated a year early from high school to get started on a never ending adventure. He was very talented, he cooked for hundreds of workers on offshore oil rigs, he owned his own printing company, Wallace Quality Printing, he traveled all over the south working for Bobby Givens construction. He then used all the skills he acquired, when he settled in Texas to start buying, selling, and restoring homes. His day started at sun up and usually ended at dark. The only thing that he slowed down for was a good steak or a tiger basketball game. He was passionate about a lot of things in life but Memphis tiger basketball was the top of his list !! He was a dedicated true blue tiger fan he traveled all over the country with friends and family to watch the Tigers play even after moving to Texas.
He loved to talk, anytime he had a minute alone in his truck, he was calling family and friends to catch up!! "He just wanted Everyone to Love Him as He loved Them"
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 8 from 1pm to 2pm with the funeral service celebrating David's Life to begin at 2pm at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar.
