She was born in Lexington, Tennessee, but moved to Memphis at a very early age. After attending Snowden Junior High, Treadwell High school, and Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), she went to work at Leader Federal Savings and Loan (now Regions Bank) making a 40 year career with Leader Federal, retiring as a Vice President and Branch Manager.
She loved University of Memphis basketball and football, having season basketball tickets in her younger years and traveling the country with her family and friends to all the basketball games.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Milam, her father, Calvin Milam; two brothers, Tom Milam and O.C. Milam; one sister, Inez Milam. She leaves behind two sisters, Maye Beck and Rita Burgess; two nephews, John Burgess(Melisa) and John Milam, Sr; three nieces Naomi Ragsdale, Pam Causey and Deborah Milam; one nephew, John Milam, Jr (Julie); four great nieces, Rose Ragsdale, Grace Ragsdale, Charlotte Burgess, and Taryn Causey; and one great, great nephew, John Thomas Milam.
Friends and family will gather on Tuesday, December 28 from one o'clock in the afternoon until funeral services begin at two o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. A reception will follow at Memphis Funeral Home.
Her favorite charities were St. Jude Children's Hospital and Shriners Children's Hospital.
