Horn Lake - Doris Marie Vernon, 81, of Horn Lake, MS, formerly of Memphis, TN, died peacefully on Monday June 3, 2013 and went home to be with Jesus. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 9th at 4 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 - 4 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home 5599 Poplar Ave. Memphis TN. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Memphis Memory Gardens. Doris was born in Union Co. MS on November 19,1931. Doris worked as an Executive Secretary for Blake Enterprises for 26 years. She enjoyed gardening and her pet Chiweenie but mostly her 3 children, family and friends. She attended Harvest of Faith Ministries in Southaven. Doris leaves her precious memories to be cherished by her loving sister Bernice Phillips, 3 children, Donnie Vernon of Harmontown, MS, Terry Vernon of Harmontown, MS and Chris Marie Maglior and her husband Christopher of Hernando, MS, 4 grandchildren who are proud to call her Mam-maw and 1 great grandchild, 1 niece and 6 nephews, and other family and friends. Doris is preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Opal McCollum, and her sisters. Margie White and Betty Addison.
