Dorothy P. Burnette, 85, of Memphis, passed away on September 20, 2015. The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, September 22, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, all at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Dorothy was a member of Berclair Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she was active in Bible school and choir. She was a School Crossing Guard for more than 29 years. Mrs. Burnette was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and follower of Christ. She was preceded in death by her son, David Burnette; and her sister, Billie Mooneyham. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joe Burnette; two sons, John Burnette (Mary Ann) and James “Bo” Burnette (Becky); two sisters, Marie Massie and Rose Woodall (Ray); seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Lasting memorials in her honor may be made to Berclair Baptist Church.
