Doyal Long

He was the only child of Hubert and Linda Long of Morristown, Tennessee. Rev. Long was a graduate of Crichton College and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Memphis, Tennessee. He completed a one-year residency in Clinical Pastoral Education at Veterans Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and was endorsed as a hospital chaplain by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served as Associate Chaplain and System Chaplain with Baptist Memorial Health Care System in Memphis, Tennessee and at Baptist Regional Hospitals in Tipton and Lauderdale counties from 1990-1999. Rev. Long served as Minister, Pastoral Care at Bellevue Baptist Church from January 2000 until retirement March 31, 2011. After retirement, he continued to minister in a variety of ways, Volunteering as Chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, Bartlett and tutoring students at Treadwell Elementary in the A.R.I.S.E. program. He also conducted worship services periodically at Elmcroft Assisted Living.

Rev. Doyal Long leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara; son, Andrew (Kristin) Long and two grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Long and Hannah Ellen Long of Bartlett, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shari Long.

A visitation for Rev. Doyal Long will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1 pm, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2 PM at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, 2095 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee 38016.
