Druscilla Richmond McVey was born July 18, 1940, in Memphis to Issac Sr and Bernice Richmond. She departed life on October 20, 2024, in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Issac Sr and Bernice, brother Timothy Richmond Sr. and sisters Barbara Mason and Shelia Neal.
This graduate of Douglas Hill school accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Zion Hill M. B. Church. Druscilla was a dedicated employee and strived to excel and modeled how a lady should maintain her home, dress and speak with elegance. After several years of service Druscilla retired from Terminal Fright (Sears) and International Paper at age 57 years old. After retirement she spent most of her time as a caretaker, as she believed in the best care for all.
Druscilla was united in holy matrimony to Carl L. McVey Jr in 1982 and of this union was a blended family of five children. This marriage was a commitment of almost 43 years until death parted the two. Drue knew that Carl cherished her as he alway put her needs first and never left her side during her time of illness. Carl was her rock and safe haven and her smile was his greatest reward.
Druscilla leaves to cherish her memory her husband Carl L. McVey Jr., children Rita Denise Sweeney of Memphis TN, Floyd Hayden Jr (Mary) of Memphis TN, Gregory Kirk Hayden of Dallas TX, Michael D. McVey (Darcheena) of Arlington TN and Constance R. McVey-Smith (Derrick) of Olive Branch MS; brother-in-law Ed McVey (Patsy) and sister-in-law Dorothy Sayles; sister Verbina Richmond, bother Issac Richmond Jr. and sister Yvonne Richmond all of Memphis TN. Grandchildren Antoine M. Hayden, Dion Stokes (Dominic), Jamal Sweeney, Floyd L. Hayden III, Gregory P. Hayden, Vincent L. Hayden, 🕊 Darius L. Moore, Michael D. McVey II, Madison Smith and Hunter Smith. Great Grandchildren Marioh Stokes and Quinn Stokes. A beautiful host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Druscilla will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. A funeral service will occur Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home.
