Eddie graduated from Messick High School and married his high school sweetheart in May, 1958. He started his own trucking business with his brother in-law, Lonnie Fondern, at an early age and continued to drive a truck as a union freight hauler until the age of 66. Eddie and Linda raised four boys, Eddie Jr, Michael, Mark, and Joshua.
Eddie had the gifts of gab and charisma and loved to tell his stories, play cards, and play practical jokes on his family and friends. He was not one to bring attention to himself; therefore, stories of his kindness would often go unheard for years. He rarely spoke about the Lord; however, he was a deeply spiritual man and relied on God to guide him through life, especially in his later years. He holds a special place in the heart of many.
Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and his brother, Donnie Von Boeckman, and half-brother Jim Von Boeckman. Eddie is survived in death by 4 sisters, Elenor Willow, Violet Abernathy, Nita Stewart, and Wanda Knowles, as well as his four sons Eddie Jr, Michael, Mark, and Josh, and two grandchildren Marie and Grace.
A gathering of friends and family for Eddie will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, followed by a celebration of life at 10:00 AM.
