Elaine grew up in Whitehaven, Tennessee, and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. She went on to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in philosophy from Memphis State University. Her steady intellect and gentle way of engaging the world were evident in her work as well, as she taught logic for a couple of semesters before marrying in 1975.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gil Hennon, and her sister, Patsy. She is survived by her daughter, Meg McCown (Jamie), and two grandsons, Austin and Evan. She is also survived by her siblings, Kathy and Billy, Mike, Peggy, and Jayne.
Visitation will occur on Thursday, October 15 beginning at 10:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
