

Elvis Rochester Lemmon, age 89, of Hernando, Mississippi passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. Elvis was born August 19, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee to Lewis Earl Lemmon and Stella Mae Hewitt Lemmon. He graduated from Bolton High School. He learned the value of hard, honest work at an early age while working on a farm moving silage. He went on to work at Orgill Brothers until beginning his career with the Memphis Fire Department. He rose through the ranks before retiring in 1992 as Duty Chief, after serving 36 and half years. He also served in the U.S. Army 1958-1960. While serving in the army, he and his wife traveled all over Europe, even having an opportunity to be blessed by the Pope while in Rome, Italy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert, Lewis, and Howard and sisters, Margaret, Evelyn, Ailene, and Wilma. Elvis is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Anne Lemmon; son, Mitchell Anthony Lemmon (Sandra); granddaughter, Ava Lauren Lemmon; his surviving brother, Aubrey Lemmon; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Gratitude United Methodist Church, 10454 Millington Arlington Rd, Arlington, TN 38002. A graveside service will occur at 11:00 AM, on the church grounds. Charitable donations may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
