Ernest D. Stennis, 85, went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He enjoyed the BWM Hunting Club, playing softball for the Easthaven Eagles, and was a prominent usher and trustee for New Tyler AME. Ernest was a retired teacher at Manor Lake School where he taught for 34 years. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at New Tyler AME. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Mr. Ernest is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Lois M. Stennis; a son, David Stennis (Vicki); seven siblings; and four grandchildren.
