Ms. Evalyn L Hayes

Ms. Evalyn Levern Hayes was born on November 27, 1961, in Tunica, Mississippi. She was the eldest of three children born to the late Mr. Louis Gladney Jr. and Mrs. Lillie Mae Gordon Gladney. Evalyn departed this life on November 29, 2024, in Memphis, TN at the age of 63.

After leaving Mississippi, Evalyn and her family relocated to Memphis, TN when she was an infant. Evalyn attended Fairley High School and would have graduated with the class of 1979 but graduated a year early from Hamilton High School. Evalyn studied accounting and bookkeeping at Memphis School of Commerce and went on to work several careers before becoming an entrepreneur where she is the founder and owner of EWPACs and E L Hayes Notary & Fax Services.

Evalyn was proceeded in death by her grandparents Mr. Arthur Chester Allen Gordon and Mrs. Leola Elizabeth Curry Gordon; Mr. Louis J. Gladney and Mrs. Eddie Mae Jones Gladney; her father Mr. Louis Joe Gladney Jr.; her aunts Jacqueline Gilmore, Silverlen Sheffield, Ethel Mae Gordon, Ethel Lee Readus, Denise Hall; and her uncles Arthur Gordon Jr., Thomas Jefferson Gordon, Richard Gordon, and Joyce Gordon.

Evalyn cherished her three children and her memories are embedded in her family’s heart. Cherishing her memory are: devoted and loving son Chandrick C. Hayes of Holyoke, MA; devoted and loving son Dr. DeMarquis M. Hayes (Nakia) of Wylie, TX; devoted and loving daughter Shinika L. Hayes of Tampa, FL; devoted and loving mother Lillie Mae White of Memphis, TN; five beautiful grandchildren: Dyson Hayes, Devin Hayes, Daija Hayes of Wylie, TX; Quinton Hayes and Octavia Hayes of Wayland, MA; devoted brother Louis J. Gladney, lll (Mycha) of Bartlett, TN; loving sister Marion Hicks of Memphis, TN; sister Bernadette Jones of Memphis, TN; niece Shantanell Davis (Crystal) of Memphis, TN; niece Carla Hicks of Nashville, TN; nephew Carlton Hicks of Nashville, TN; niece Kyndal Gladney of Bartlett, TN; niece Jasmine Jackson of Memphis, TN; nephew, Xavier Jackson of Memphis, TN; nephew Xander Jackson of Memphis, TN. She leaves to cherish a host of cousins, loved ones and very special friends who knew and loved her deeply and are left with precious memories.

A visitation for Evalyn will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home Stage Road Chapel, 4445 Stage Road, Memphis, TN 38128.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM, M.J. Edwards Funeral Home Stage Road Chapel, 4445 Stage Road, Memphis, TN 38128.

A committal service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 at New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Rd, Memphis, TN 38109.
