Fannie Bell Smith

With love and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, Fannie Bell (Moss) Smith, on May 13, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 91.

A devoted educator for most of her life, she inspired countless lives with her knowledge, patience, and compassion. She was a retired teacher who served at Delta Center in Walls, Mississippi, Southaven Elementary in Southaven, Mississippi, and Arlington Developmental Center in Arlington, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00–10:55 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood, 620 Parkrose Road, Memphis, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to M.J. Edwards Whitehaven.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Daphne Y. Moss; her brother, James R. Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends who will forever cherish her love, wisdom, and guidance.

Her warmth, grace, and enduring spirit will be missed beyond measure, but her love will continue to surround us always.
