OBITUARY
Fleta Young
April 26, 1941 – February 16, 2021
On the morning of Tuesday, February 16th, 2021, Fleta L. Young got her wings and flew home to join her husband, Ray Young, in a celebration of their eternal love in Heaven.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a friend to all she met through her unwaivering devotion to Christ.
The definition of southern hospitality, with a “the more the merrier” approach to life, holidays, birthdays, graduations, (and days that ended in y) were always celebrated with home cooked dinners or her infamous strawberry cake (a recipe we call top secret as she got it from a friend in her years working for the FBI) which she tirelessly prepared for the people she loved the most…her family and friends.
Born in April of 1941, Fleta was the daughter of Grace and Clyde Harlan. She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper, bank teller, secretary, dispatcher and a member of Temple Baptist Church and later, Bellevue Baptist Church.
Among the family members who will miss her infectious smile, laugh, and unconditional love the most are her three daughters: Patricia Satterly (Jim), Pamela Holladay (Kevin), and Penni Hall (Jason).
Among the many family members who will miss her hugs are her five grandchildren: Christina Copeland (Jeremy), Jeffrey Satterly, Cameron Holladay, Brennan Hall, and Bailey Hall, as well as her surviving siblings, Victor Harlan and Evelyn Yockey. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews that all loved her sense of humor.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: James Harlan, Blanche Wade and Van Harlan.
A celebration of her life will be held at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, on Monday, February 22, at 2:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:00 pm. Interment services will be held at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh LaGrange Road following the funeral. A livestream of the service will held at https://www.facebook.com/168960939785038
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that family and friends consider making a donation of any amount to the Alzheimer’s Association. (alz.org)

What a beautiful and wonderful lady. From the very first time I met you you made me feel as though I had known you all my life. I know my son loves you like another mother because that is exactly what you were. You will me missed far more than words can express but we all know you are in a better place with our Lord and all of your loved ones who passed before you. It was a privilege to call you family and friend. Until we meet again my friend rest in peace.
