June Foley, age 80, passed away January 15th 2019. She leaves to cherish memories;her husband of 61 years, Nicholas Foley; 5 children, Lisa, Vicki, Marilyn, Scott & Lori;3 grandchildren, Curtis, Taylor & Jake; 1 great grandchild, Jaxson; 1 aunt Jackie, and her beloved dog Bella.
One major aspect of her life was making sure that her family was fed well and cared for. Since her husband was of Italian descent, she learned to cook many Italian dishes including Spaghetti. Since her family loved her Spaghetti so much, they decided to induct her as an honorary Italian. Giving her the name Junini.
June lived a full life. Her hobbies included bowling, fishing & ceramics. While her husband Nicholas was in the Marines, she traveled to New Orleans, Hawaii, Japan, California & back to Memphis. Having lived in Raleigh & Atoka, her final resting place was in Bartlett, TN where she passed peacefully in her sleep. She was surrounded by family & friends.
She touched our family in various ways:
*Dad/Husband (Nick): My fondest memory is her presence - always there with my family, and to welcome me back home from my military deployment. She had family management skills that were beyond my imagination. She took care of all household needs plus her family's needs. She was my wife and partner for 61 years. She is missed more than words can say.
*Lisa (1st child): After my son was born, I was being transported back to my room where Mom was waiting for me. I started crying when she inquired as to why, I stated “I have a baby boy”! The bond of motherhood began at that moment.
*Vicki (2nd child): My fondest memory of Mom is my birthday in Kindergarten. She surprised me by visiting me, bringing homemade cupcakes decorated with the different shaped marshmallows fro mthe Lucky Charms ceral; I could not have been more surprised or felt any more special than I did at that moment!
*Marilyn (3rd child- set of twins): My Mom's ability to cook over the phone by memory! No recipe, but she knew every ingredient, amount and directions! No matter how difficult the recipe, it came out perfectly every time. I don't think Mom used a recipe in over 40 years...best cook ever!
*Scott (4th child- set of twins): Mom loved Trout fishing in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Despite someone else having to bait her hook. She tried to out-fish everybody. As a matter of fact, one fishing trip she caught the biggest fish and had it stuffed and mounted.
*Lori (5th child): As my son played baseball, she would go to his games screaming and cheering him on louder that anyone else. She was so excited and always so proud of him. Another is that she loved playing games, and especially loved winning prizes at Liberty Land Amusement Park.
*Curtis (1st grandchild): Grandma loved telling the story about when I was little, I could come to her house and run up to her with my hand out and fingers spread. I'd say “ga'mama”, and she knew to take the mustard and put it on the tips of each of my fingers to lick off, then repeat. Of course I don't remember any of this but I always thought the story was funny. Ironically, I hate mustard now.
*Taylor (2nd grandchild): Grandmomma called me one night and asked if I would drive her to her hairdresser's appointment the next day. At that time I drove a convertible sports car; she rode in it for the first time, we put the top down and she loved it! She even told me I was the best driver and wasn't scared! At the salon, she bragged to everyone about how she got to ride in a convertible and couldn't wait to do it again! We had so much fun that day. But we also would spend hours talking on the phone about wrestling! We would talk for hours; she loved wrestling.
*Jake (3rd grandchild): She always loved having her family around. Always happy around me, even when she might not have had the best day. She's awesome.
