Frances Newell Underwood Newell Reeder

Frances Newell Underwood Reeder, died December 22, 2013 at the Methodist Hospice House. Born in Memphis, TN to George and Nona Newell on August 27, 1928, she lived in Memphis until moving to Olive Branch, MS in 2003. Frances received her Bachelor’s Degree graduating Magna Cum Laude and Master’s Degree from the University of Memphis and was employed by the Memphis City Schools as a librarian for thirty years, retiring in 1995. She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, an accomplished pianist, a lover of books and an avid reader, and had sung in Methodist Church Choirs for sixty years. She leaves three sons: Bob Underwood of Olive Branch, David Underwood (Heather) of Franklin, TN, and Mark Underwood (Lauren) of Collierville, TN; four grandchildren Brent Renner (Ashley) of Franklin, Kylie Murdock (Dustin) of Franklin, Jake Underwood and Nick Underwood of Collierville, and three great-grandchildren Ava, Davis and Amelia Renner of Franklin. There will be a memorial service for Frances on Thursday, December 26 beginning at 10 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2969 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38115.
