

Franklin Griffin, 91, of Memphis, passed away April 5, 2014. He was born on May 6, 1922 in Tyronza, AR, but grew up in Fayette County, TN. Mr. Griffin graduated from Fayette County High School, and he proudly served three and one-half years in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. after forty two years. He was a life member of the VFW, where he served as both Quartermaster and Commander along with other committees at Post 4916. Franklin was a member of Leawood Baptist Church, and he loved fishing at Midway Lake in Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Potter Griffin. He leaves three children, Terry Lee of Memphis, Ronald Wayne of Rosedale, IN, and Dovie Marie Farrar (Tim) of Memphis; five grandchildren, Anna Marie Britt of Ripley, MS, Ronald Griffin, Jr. of Rosedale, IN, Dawn Marie Farrar, Matthew Alan Farrar, and Kelsey Leann Griffin, all of Memphis; and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue.
