Gene was born April 6, 1928 in Andrews, NC to James Walker and Mellie Robinson Stewart. He was a Veteran, having served as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corp. He attended Mars Hill College and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Gene worked as an Aeronautical Engineer for The Boeing Company almost 40 years. He married Mildred Hendrix of Murphy, NC September 9, 1950.
Survivors are his loving wife, Mildred Stewart; children, Denise Saunders & husband Glenn of Arlington, TX; Gene Stewart and wife Mary of Columbus, GA; Sherry Wheat & husband Wendall, Terry Beatty & husband James, and Linda Stewart Case of Memphis, TN; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grand children. He will be inurned in Memorial Park in Memphis, TN. On May 14, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in Gene’s honor.
