Gene L. Boyd, Sr.

Gene L. Boyd Sr., went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2014. He was born on May 30, 1938 in Parsons, TN to Jimmy Dee Boyd and Ruby Lee Boyd. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School; he attended Germantown Baptist Church. He was an investment banker and vice-president for Duncan Williams, Inc. for 42 years. He loved playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an exemplary Godly husband, father and grandfather and was dearly loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wanda Pierce; brothers, O.B. Morgan and J.D. Boyd. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Roveda Chiozza Boyd; son Gene L. (Judy) Boyd Jr. of Collierville; daughter Loretta Boyd (Gerald Bonner) of Germantown, TN; grandson Gene L. Boyd III of Collierville; granddaughter Rachel Kathryn Boyd of Collierville, TN; siblings, Ruby Dee Bowman of Somerville, TN, Charlotte Leatherwood of Oakland, TN, Lennie (Larry) Kelley of Rossville, TN, Joyce (Robert) Turner of Rossville, TN, Bettye McNutt of Nesbit, MS, Wayne (Sherry) Boyd of Oakland, TN, and Joan (Rudy) Meeks of Jackson, TN; three aunts, Ruby Webb of Memphis, TN, Helen Tubbs of Parsons, TN, a great aunt and Vonnie Mays of IN, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Saturday December 27, 2014 from 12-2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, a funeral service will be held at 2p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel.
