

GEORGE MORISON LIVERS, COL. U.S.A.F. (ret), 92, has completed his final flight to join his loving wife Ann and daughter Nancy. Born in Martinsburg, WV on January 11, 1920, he died June 19, 2012 in Memphis. “Little Daddy”, as he was known to family, leaves remaining children, Linda Kelso of Martinsburg, WV, George Livers, Jr. and Tom Livers of Memphis, Sue Gutberlet (Bernd) of Heidelberg, Germany, and Steve Livers (Maureen) of Largo, FL as well as twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Elizabeth Livers, and siblings Kathryn Livers Finley and John A. Livers. A one-time member of the West Virginia State Chorus, he demonstrated leadership skills early, graduating from Martinsburg High School as class president in 1939. He attended Shepherd College before joining the Army Air Corps in WWII. A 30-year pilot, he flew in three combat theaters: WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Active after retirement from the USAF, he worked at MATCOG, served as president of the local Air Force Association and was a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. His greatest passion was his family and most especially his wife, Ann. Married for 69 years they always found music to hold each other close and dance the night away. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 5-7 p.m.. at Memphis Funeral Home and Celebration of Life services on Saturday, June 30 at 11 a.m. Germantown Presbyterian Church.
