

She was born Dec. 9, 1942, in the Philippines, where she rose through the school system. As an adult, she immigrated to the United States and achieved a degree in education. She eventually settled in Memphis, where she taught in Memphis-Shelby County Schools, previously known as Memphis City Schools. Around this time, she met and married Alejandro Cardenas, and together they had two children, Lorilea and Darren. She enjoyed cooking and was a prolific writer. She was a fiercely devoted and faithful Christian.
Surviving family include her daughter, Lorilea Cardenas (Paul Williams); a son, Darren Cardenas, and his wife, Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Briana Ogle, Jeremy Ogle, Megan Ogle, Lauren Ogle and Tabitha Cardenas; and many nieces and nephews across the world. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alejandro Cardenas.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 10:30 to 12:00 at Family Funeral Care 4925 Summer Ave Memphis, TN 38122. A rotunda service will be held Monday, June 10, 2024, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd., Memphis, in honor and celebration of her life.
