Greta Benn

Mrs. Greta Benn of Memphis, TN was called to Heaven on February 23, 2012. Mrs. Benn, fondly known to many as “Grandma”, was born in Keswick, England on March 21, 1921. As a young child she and her family migrated to the United States, residing in Freeport, NY. After high school, Greta attended Hofstra University, where she met her husband, the late Mr. Robert J. Benn. Mr. and Mrs. Benn resided and raised their two children, Robert, Jr. and Marsha in Levittown, NY before retiring to sunny Florida. Mrs. Benn moved to Memphis, TN in 2001, in order to be closer to her family. No matter the situation, Greta could always be found with a smile on her face. Mrs. Benn is preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Benn, her son Robert J Benn, Jr. and her grandson Robert J. Benn III. She is survived by her daughter Marsha Cobb Cayce (Pete), five grandchildren: Jennifer Benn Stark (Eric), T. Scott Cobb Jr. (Erica), Andrea Benn McKee (David), Ashley Cobb Young (Matt), and Amanda L. Cobb. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. A Celebratory Service and Reception will be held on Monday, February 27th in the Chapel at Kirby Pines Retirement Community at 3:30 pm to remember Greta Benn. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to Downline Ministry or Advance Memphis.
