Doug,

You taught me to fly back in the early 80's in Memphis.  You were a great guy and a great teacher- and some of my best memories are of the time we spent both on the ground and in the air.  I still have that Nikomat camera and use it to this day.  Thank you again my friend for the gift of flight.

I was your student pilot, back in the early 1980's at HI-AIR in Memphis, and your trained me to become a private, commercial, instrument, plus multi-engine pilot. I went off to the military but we always kept in touch. You were a kind gentleman, with a great sense of humour, much honor, and integrity. I will never forget you my friend. Go well, Rest In Peace. I loved working with Doug at Bellevue. He was very gifted on the piano and I really enjoyed listening to him play. One memory I have of Doug was one night I had stayed late and was in the music kitchen using the stove. All the lights in that hallway were off. It had gotten a little hot in the kitchen so I went to open the door and there Doug was. He scared me so bad that I screamed. Actually, we both screamed then laughed! From that day on, every time I saw Doug, we would talk about that incident. Sure will miss him.

We loved working with Doug at Bellevue. We enjoyed listening to his stories and eating the chocolate he shared with us!! We will miss this sweet talented man, but look forward to seeing him in Heaven one day!
