Herbert Lee Cornell

Herbert L Cornell, age 87, of Memphis, TN passed away on May 5, 2022. Mr.Cornell was born on April 29, 1935 in Memphis, TN to Eula And Alfred Cornell. Herbert graduated from Messick High School and started Cornell Tarpaulin Company with his father on N. 3rd Street which he owned and operated for 35 years. He was a family man, a University of Memphis basketball fan, and avid collector of memorabilia. Herbert and his wife loved to learn about new places during their travels with their son, which included, the US, Italy, France, South Korea, China, Belgium, England, Netherlands, Germany, and Guatemala. He stayed close to each and every family member, loved and was loved by his community, had a wonderful sense of humor and an unwavering positive view of life. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Anita Cornell; his son, Steve Cornell, and his two daughters, Dana Richardson and Julie Sacco; seven grandchildren, Melissa, James, Anthony, Amanda, Matt, Samuel, and Camila as well 3 great grandchildren, Alli, Bryan, and Ava. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9:30 am until 10:00 am with services immediately following at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. The interment will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Memorial Park Southwoods, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125.
