Hilda English Borders Wilson, age 92, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 10, 2024. She was born on July 26, 1931 in Brownsville, Tennessee to Thelma and Jewell English. Hilda "Memaw" retired from Regional One Health (formly John Gaston Hospital) after 30 years in medical records. She was a member of Collierville First Baptist Church. She graduated from Haywood High School in 1949 in Brownsville.
Hilda had a beautiful, kind spirit that she exuded even up to her final days. Her caretakers said her smile lit up the room. She loved reading, attending her church, spending time with her family, and she absolutely loved the dogs she had through the years. She married Larimore Borders in 1950 and after his passing in 1987 she married Turner Wilson later in life. She lived a simple life and didn’t travel much and liked being at home. She has a 1996 Toyota Corolla that still has about 50,000 miles on it. She cut and weed-eated her yard and drove until 90 years old. She lived a long healthy life until her recent memory issues over the past few years but she always kept a positive spirit.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Patricia Borders Stanley (Lanny); four grandchildren, Stephen (Stacy), Joseph, LaCena, and Andrew; and five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Samantha, Jared, Shiloh, and Evrin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Larimore Borders and Turner Wilson; son, Larry Borders; and her parents.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Saturday, June 15 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside service will follow at 1:15 PM, at Oakwood Cemetery, 400 Margin Street, Brownsville, TN 38012.
