Hubert Daniel Adair

Born on July 17, 1947, in New Albany, Mississippi, Dan was the son of Hubert Stephens Adair and Eva Lois Whiteside Adair. Dan graduated from W. P. Daniel High School and attended the University of Mississippi. He went on to work in automobile finance for most of his career. A proud veteran, Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Dan was a devoted husband who cherished his wife, children and grandchildren, with his beloved Ole Miss Rebels a close second. An avid Ole Miss football fan who loved tailgating, he also played competitive softball for years. Dan will be remembered for his sense of humor, as he took great pleasure in making people laugh and loved giving special gifts. During his retirement, Dan volunteered at Trinity Farms working with special needs children, raised funds for St. Jude (earning a top fundraiser award), and faithfully walked the annual St. Jude 5K.

Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Delia Rose Hurley Adair; his son, Joseph Andrew Adair (Michelle); and his grandchildren, Lilley Grace Adair and Carson Adair. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Daniel Adair; his parents, Hubert and Eva Adair; his sisters, Ann Hankins, Janie Martin, and Carrol Reese; and his brother Hubert Lamar Adair.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis Catholic Church, located at 203 White Station Road in Memphis, on Monday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation at the church starting at 9:00 a.m. Final interment will be in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
