Irene Gamble Lopez

Irene Gamble Lopez’s earthly life ended on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the age of 88. She was the mother of six children: Becky Wertz (Peter), Karla Mavity (Howard), Teresa Sampson (Bill), Thomas Lopez (Sarah), Ann Laury (Wayne) and Paula Robilio (Patrick).

Grandmother of 15: Alex Wertz, Andy Wertz, Megan Mavity, William Mavity, Stephen Sampson, Lauren Hayles (Hunter), Anna Bush (Hayden), Chris Sampson (Kaitlin), Brogan Lopez (Drennan), Madeline Nicholson (Sean), Walker Laury, Cameron Laury (Laurie), Kendall Laury, Angelo Bologna (Sienna Nelson) and Anthony Bologna (Lizzie).

Great Grandmother of 9: Wyatt and Henry Sampson, Hannah Grace, Maggie and Sarah Hayles, Dallas Reid and Holden Lopez, George Nicholson, and Winnie Bush

Should anyone have fond memories, it was her request that this not be demonstrated via flowers but by a donation to the Caring Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church or by doing some kind deed to someone who could use a little encouragement.

Family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, August 16 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. The service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN.

On a final note, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Methodist Hospice whose care and compassion ensured a peaceful transition and to the staff of Hearthside Collierville for their care and devotion to our mother. Words cannot express our gratitude for the love and dedication to not only our mother but to her entire family as well. You will not be forgotten!
