James W. Brown, Jr. "Jimbo"

James W. Brown, Jr., 96, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on May 30, 2018. Mr. Brown was born in Memphis on November 18, 1921 to the late James W. and Katie Lee Brown. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Boxer in the South Pacific during World War II. He married the late Josephine McCord Brown on March 9, 1943. Mr. Brown retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital where he was the Director of Purchasing and Materials Management for thirty years. He was an active and long-time member of Union Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was preceded in passing by his wife and four siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Janet McDugle (Jim); his granddaughters, Laura Beth McCarty and Lisa Hardy (Edd); his great-grandchildren, Jonah McCarty, Kaitlyn Hardy, and Wes Hardy; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 4 from 1:00 until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
