James Donald "Donnie" Green

James Donald “Donnie” Green, age 89, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on August 2, 1936, Donnie was the youngest son of Thomas Green and Nell Woodruff Green. He grew up in the Highland Heights community of Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from Treadwell High School, and earned his degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity. Donnie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for more than twenty years, entering active duty in December 1960 and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel on May 31, 1981. During his distinguished military career, he served in a variety of leadership positions, including Missile Squadron Commander and Missile Staff Officer, earning numerous awards and commendations for his service. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Donnie enjoyed a successful career as a financial advisor. He took great pride in helping his clients and built relationships that often lasted decades. He remained active in his profession well into his later years. Throughout his life, Donnie was devoted to his family. Military assignments took the Green family to locations across the country and around the world, creating lasting memories and friendships wherever they lived. He was known for his steady guidance, sense of duty, quick wit, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nell Green; his sisters, Eleanor Dean, Betty Green, Martha Leonard, Helen Crain, and Jean Carr; and his brothers, Bill “T. Willie” Green, Howard Green, and Mickey Green. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Green, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his son, Robert Green and wife Machelle of Las Vegas, Nevada; his son, Bradley Green of Las Vegas, Nevada; his daughter, Allison Green of Lewisburg, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Kelly and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Gage, Damon, McKenzie, and Madison; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Family Funeral Care in Memphis, Tennessee. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family Funeral Care of Memphis has charge of all arrangements.
