

Born on January 30, 1943, in Oneonta, Alabama, James was the son of the late Earnest and Rosie Hartley. He was also preceded in death by his twelve brothers and sisters.
James graduated from Fairview High School in Cullman, Alabama, in 1961. Throughout his life, he was known for his intelligence, especially when it came to computers and technology. Family and friends often admired his sharp mind, problem-solving abilities, and willingness to share his knowledge with others.
A devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, James rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. His passion for Alabama football was matched only by the love he had for his family.
James will be remembered as a great man whose wisdom, strength, and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his son, James A. Hartley; his daughter, Cindy Wall and her husband, Warren; and his grandsons, James Wall and Michael Wall. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, knowledge, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
