

James E. Pegues, Sr. 81, of Memphis, TN died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital. He was born in Holly Springs, MS on February 1, 1933 to the late James and Daisy Pegues. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1959. He remained faithful and served as a Congregation Elder for over 50 years. He was a Supervisor for Wagner Electric (automotive industry) for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Iola Pegues of fifty-six years, his parents, his brothers: Calvin, Lloyd and Chester Pegues. He is survived by four sisters: Veronia Donald, Sweetie Dawkins, Maxine Guinn and Patricia Pegues and three brothers: Lange Pegues (Ruby), Leon Pegues (Velma), Benal Pegues (Glennie).
He was known for his straight forward manner and zeal for Kingdom interest. He always expressed at the congregational meetings how he "appreciated" the many provisions in which Jehovah had showered upon the congregations. He had a love for people and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a joyous spirit and was a real outdoorsmen. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and hiking especially in the Gatlinburg, TN area.
He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Carolyn P. Smyth (Chandré), James E. Pegues, Jr. (Patricia), Ronald D. Pegues (Allyson) and Barbara Pegues Bradford. Three grandchildren: Marrion Anton Pegues (Cheryl), Johnna Michelle Smyth and Nicholas D. Pegues, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, family and spiritual brothers and sisters, who will miss him very much.
