Jane Graves Stone

Jane Graves Stone, 96, a devoted mother and pillar of her faith community, peacefully passed away on February 25,2025. Born on June 23, 1928, in Humboldt, Tn., Jane’s unwavering faith guided her life and her approach to her large family and many friends.

As a mother of two, grandmother of three and great-grandmother of five, Jane instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. She led by example, volunteering regularly to host and support her Sunday School class and outreach ministries at Christ Church and the Memphis Women’s Exchange.

Jane's greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. Her homemade chocolate chip cookies were legendary and her holiday gatherings were eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike. Jane's love for nurturing, learned from growing up on the family farm in Gibson Co., was evident in the time spent outdoors planting and growing all types of plants over her entire life!

Jane and her husband John's home was a haven of warmth and cheer for her immediate and extended family, friends, neighbors and members of the many clubs and organizations she enjoyed and hosted.

She is survived by her children Kathy Lucas of Picayune, MS and Carlton Sedberry of Eads, Tn., and their families.

A celebration of Jane's life and faith will be held on March 3, 2025 at Memphis Funeral Home.
