He went to Tech High School and joined the US Navy at 17 where he was a Radar Tech and served on 3 Aircraft Carriers. Jeff was a Patriot and loved his country. He loved his family too. As a teenager, he attended Lindsay Memorial Presbyterian Church but then in later years attended Eastside Baptist
Church on occasion. It was in his last year that it was obvious he was reading the Bible and he’d often encourage his daughter by quoting scripture and he would say that he was praying for someone.
He worked for the VA Hospital for 42 yrs as a HVAC Engineer. He lovingly and admirably took care of his wife, Betty deGraffenried, who suffered for several years with Alzheimers till her death in 2018.
